Introduction
It’s been a week of reflection for me and while I to add bit of personality to my introductions, it’s a hard one for me this week because my reasons for reflection are sad. I’m fine, by the way, and will be but sometimes we need to take account of the actions that can be driven by hatred and particularly pernicious is the impact of hatred of who a person IS intrinsically rather than what a person DOES.
It is timely though, in Black History Month, to reflect beyond my own circumstances to the ways that racialised hatred and the need to ‘other’ people who are different has caused and continues to cause direct harm, in terms of violence, genocide but also in those day-to-day interactions that we have with difference. So, my thoughts, briefly, because I do want to keep this brief, is about the importance of embracing and welcoming difference as adding to the whole and the richness of human experience we encounter. I will be at Community Care Live this week so if you are around and want to catch up, drop me a line, otherwise, I’d really appreciate it if you can continue to share the newsletter with any who you think might benefit or be interested - I always welcome feedback and suggestions.
