Paulette Forbes Reid delivers an engaging presentation on ‘Black Lives Matter in Fostering & Adoption'. This is a presentation from July but it is a fantastic one and was so useful to me in learning and reflecting during Black History Month.

This is a great podcast from BASW focussing on antisemitism and the impact it has on Jewish social workers and those who use social work services. If it is an area you don't know much about, or even if you do, this is worth a listen and some reflection.

Upcoming Events

Critical appraisal training session for social care practitioners – an introduction to the skills needed to read and understand academic papers. This training introduces social care professionals to the skills needed to read and understand academic papers.

Dr. Prospera Tedam (United Arab Emirates University) discusses new perspectives on anti-oppressive practice in the post-George Floyd and Me-Too era.

Black Lives Matter is being supported by different activities in Scotland to develop an anti-racist response. This 2 hour seminar aims to bring people together to discuss how we might work more collaboratively and purposefully towards our vision for anti-racist social work.

I don't usually post 'face to face' events here but a quick reminder that it is Community Care Live this week at the Business Design Centre in Islington. Worth attending if you are able to!

Pot Luck

This is a slightly linked 'pot luck' but I didn't have anywhere to put it. This is a call for social workers and those in social care to apply to join a research ethics committee with the Health Research Authority across the UK and it a great opportunity to if you want to extend your skills, give it a go! We need more social work and social care voices from practice, doing this.
