Introduction
Happy New Year to all, whether you’ve had a break or not, working through it or taking time away, I would like to thank you all for your support over the last year. I’m not going to dwell on reflections but it’s been a significant year for me in many years and one that will stand out.
I think of it all as learning about how to be and do social work better and aim for more next year in terms of my own and my teams’ growth. I don’t usually highlight specific links but perhaps because I’ve had more reflection time, I would recommend everyone reads the first link, from George Julian to think about what we can do to make social work what we want and need it to be. I’ve not consistently been one for resolutions, as we don’t need to wait for new year to make necessary changes in our lives and actions, but it is as good a time as any to revisit where and who we are. I am making a more conscious effort to read, learn and listen more - and to be the best advocate I can be for those whose voices remain marginalised.
I hope the new year brings you whatever you are hoping for and whatever you need. If you want, feel free to add a comment with your resolutions for your professional life in the comments!
